Veolia Water Technologies to supply seven Hydrotech™ Drumfilters to Stolt Sea Farm

The equipment, which has a total capacity of 175,000 m3/day, is highly efficient in the removal of suspended solids.

The Spanish subsidiary of Veolia Water Technologies and Stolt Sea Farm have reached an agreement for the supply of seven Hydrotech™ Drumfilter filtration equipment for their farms in Lira and Merexo, in the province of A Coruña. Stolt Sea Farm, a leading company in land-based aquaculture, already relies on several Hydrotech equipment and is once again renewing its trust in Veolia’s proprietary solutions.

The water entering the farm, coming from the Atlantic Ocean, will first be filtered by algae screens before entering the Drumfilters for suspended solids removal. Five units, with a treatment capacity of 330 l/s each and a total maximum treatment capacity of about 142,560 m3/day, are destined for the Lira farm. The two remaining units are destined for the Merexo farm and have a unit treatment capacity of 190 l/s, which represents a peak treatment of almost 33,000 m3/day.

The Hydrotech Drumfilter is a mechanical filter with a self-cleaning system specially designed to achieve high performance in applications where it is essential to prevent particles from fragmenting. Its unique filter panel is designed to achieve high filtration efficiency.

Other key factors that differentiate the Hydrotech Drumfilter from other filtration equipment include its robustness, the high quality of its components, and the ease of operation and access for maintenance, which all translate to reduced operating costs and increased lifetime. Above all, the high performance of the system garanties a better water quality that increases fish welfare and in some cases, reduces the mortality rate.
